The students’ task was to redesign various small areas of accompanying greenery up to sealed surfaces in the municipality of Kuchen (cake).

The whole thing took place within the framework of a competition in cooperation with the municipal council.

Greenspace at the Pulverturm in Freiburg

The green space at the Pulverturm has some deficits, which is why the play and recreation facilities are not used by the residents.

The park’s shadowy existence is to be ended by enhancing its design and making it easier to find. The park is to become a frequented meeting place for the residents with attractive play and recreation areas.

DOCUMENTAtion

The documenta is the world’s most important series of exhibitions of contemporary art. It takes place every 5 years and lasts 100 days.

The location of documenta is Kassel, where documenta 14 opened on June 10, 2017.

The 7th semester visited this exciting exhibition together with the master students for art therapy.
The task was to choose a work and express and present their enthusiasm for this work in a graphic way.

Landscape Interventions

For the first time this semester, the elective LandART was offered . One of the goals of the workshop was to create a very personal work of art. First of all, it was necessary to find a “coherent place” for oneself, in order to then get involved with nature and its special features. Nature offers endless possibilities and materials for artistic work. Out of one’s own aesthetic experience and intuitive moments, artworks are created that consist exclusively of the material found on site.

Landscape architecture meets art therapy

What defines places and spaces? In the summer semester of 2018, students of landscape architecture and art therapy worked together on this question during a workshop. In Nürtingen, they searched for special, forgotten places and transformed them through participatory interventions.
The results were presented to the public in an exhibition at the Nürtingen Seegrasspinnerei.

Temporary landscape
Deutz Port Cologne

The Deutz port in Cologne is one of the city’s great potentials. In the direct vicinity of the Rhine and with a view on the cathedral, the area is situated in a unique environment. Nevertheless, the area is almost unknown today and is only perceived as industrial wasteland.

In the future major changes are planned; a new district is to be created at Deutz harbor. The task was to transform the harbor into an exciting urban space by means of temporary installations even today, before the construction work begins. How can landscape architecture transform an unknown area into an exciting place?

The castle park in the Wendlingen district of Unterboihingen is privately owned.
The family plans to use the castle as a residence again, to round off the property with a new residential building
and to open the castle park to the general public. To this end, the 6th semester worked out proposals in the summer of 2016.

Palace ground Unterboihingen

The castle park in the Wendlingen district of Unterboihingen is privately owned. The family plans to use the castle as a residence again, to round off the property with a new residential building and to open the castle park to the general public. The 6th semester developed proposals for this in the summer of 2016.
