Vegetation Planning
Replanting Festplatz Karlsruhe
In the module Vegetation Planning, students in the summer semester 2025 examined the analysis of existing plantings and the development of new planting concepts for the area of the Via Triumphalis and the Festplatz in Karlsruhe. The aim was to understand the interaction between site conditions, vegetation, use, maintenance, and design intentions based on the lectures, and to develop their own strategies for high-quality, site-appropriate, and contemporary plant design.
The different sub-areas of the Festplatz and the Via Triumphalis, each with their specific spatial, functional, and historical conditions, served as the focus of the project. The acquired knowledge was then applied in a conceptual design for the overall area as well as in a detailed design of an individual sub-area.
